Calista Flockhart / Ricky Martin

This too was an episode I wasn't really looking forward to. I thought it would be another ditzy host with some sketches that were really bad. I was hoping to be proved wrong.

[COLD OPENING] The Presidential Couple

This was excellent. I loved the idea of both Bush and Gore being president, and SNL was right, it would make a perfect sitcom on some network that needs help (CBS). Keep up the good openings!

RATING : 9/10

[MONOLOGUE] Calista Flockhart

I was assuming this would be another stupid monologue, but I was proved WRONG. I loved Rachel's Ally McBeal impression, and Calista telling her to eat a burger was hilarious. I was highly surprised that this monologue worked out so well.

RATING : 8.5/10

[COMMERCIAL] Cracklin Oat Flakes

This was extremely hilarious. I cracked up when they said "now, with ECSTASY!" Haha very funny...I loved how Will was stripping naked in his work office, with all the funky colors and music. I thought this was great.

RATING : 8.5/10

[SKETCH] The Culps

I always love The Culps sketches, and this one was no different. Also, the opening bit by Calista was very funny too. I loved "Last Resort"...do do do do do do do do do!

RATING : 9/10

[SKETCH] Nick Burns Your Company's Computer Guy

I also love the Nick Burns sketches, but I was wondering how they'd be able to pull this off, because they were getting dumb at the end of last year. Kattan coming downstairs to the technicians was great. I loved Parnell's character, and Jimmy was great as always. Calista's part was good, but she didn't have enough dialogue.

RATING : 8/10

[SKETCH] Vice Presidential Address

I don't just give any sketch a 10. This is something special. Hammond's impression was perfect. The comedy in this sketch was great, with no dirty jokes, and all good clean humor. The examples of what people did with their ballots were awesome. If SNL can produce sketches like this in the future, I guess the season isn't all lost!

RATING : 10/10

[MUSIC] Ricky Martin

I don't like Ricky Martin, so I flipped the channel. From what I gathered though, he had a pretty good stage presence, so I'm assuming this went well.

[WEEKEND UPDATE] With Tina Fey & Jimmy Fallon

As always, the Weekend Update was excellent. A great lineup of jokes, along with appearances from Bill Clinton and (THE HILARIOUS) Janet Reno. The Charlie's Angels thing was stupid, Rachel didn't do a good Drew Barrymore. Kate Hudson's was much better. Also, Chris Kattan as the Queen's Mother was stupid, but something about it made me break out into hysterics. Either way, Weekend Update shone once again!

RATING : 9/10

[SKETCH] The Crocodile Hunter

I love Chris Kattan's impression of this crazy son-of-a-bitch, but I find these sketches stupid. Good try, but I guess the whole show can't be perfect!

RATING : 5/10

[MUSIC] Ricky Martin

I decided to watch for a minute, since there was nothing else on. I almost shat when I saw it was Chris Kattan. This was an excellent use for his Ricky Martin impression!!

[SKETCH] The Retro Bar

This sketch would be a good idea if you just ate some Cracklin Oat Flakes. In OTHER words, it sucked bad. I think Jerry Minor is great though, and I think he needs to be in more sketches. Once again, SNL is getting dirtier near the end of the show, and sex humor is only funny when it's used properly, not when Molly Shannon is in a sketch.

RATING : 2/10

[SKETCH] CBS Sports with Dan Rather

Oh Jesus, I hope Darrell Hammond never leaves the show. It's sketches like these that wouldn't be in the slightest bit funny unless he was doing the impressions. I loved the phrase "and now live to Portland, where the men catch fish, and the fish catch herpes". Something about it just made me crack up...I guess it was the way he said herpes. Either way, this didn't suck too bad.

RATING : 5/10

Sketch of the night : Vice Presidential Address

Quote of the night : Darrell Hammond as Al Gore  "This is the single-most confusing, bewildering, indecipherable document ever produced." (referring to the ballots used in Palm Beach, FL)

    OVERALL EPISODE RATING : 74/100

I expected poor, and recieved excellent. Although there weren't many sketches, this show proved that SNL is not dead, and this is the episode of the season so far. However, STILL no Celebrity Jeopardy. I can't wait much longer...bring it back!!
