Well, this was a combo and a half! I'm a HUGE James Bond fan, so Pierce Brosnan is one of my very favorite actors. However, Destiny's Child may very easily be my most hated group. Haha what a combo! I was really excited for the show, I was pretty sure it would be great. And, there was no way I was going to sleep without seeing a Weakest Link sketch...
[COLD OPENING] George W. Bush Father and Daughter
This was just the typical Bush opening. I was surprised to see Julia Stiles playing his daughter, but she did a good job. Their little conversation was quite humorous, so this wasn't a bad way to start the evening.
RATING : 7/10
[MONOLOGUE] Pierce Brosnan
I just about crapped my pants when Darrell walked in as Sean Connery. "That music's not for you!" Haha this was great! I especially loved how they were going to go "kick the crap out of Timothy Dalton after the show". Boy, would I love to do the same...Anyway, great monologue!
RATING : 9/10
[COMMERCIAL] Homocil
[SKETCH] Just Funnin' with Gemini's Twin
You know, I'm getting pretty sick and tired of this. It was nice to see Maya and Ana poke fun at Destiny's Child's style of music, but that's about all this sketch had going for it. This wasn't funny, and shouldn't have been the first sketch of the night.
RATING : 5.5/10
[SKETCH] Weakest Link
When this show premiered two weeks ago, I thought that if SNL didn't do a sketch on it then I'd never watch the show again. I knew it was a pretty safe bet to have SNL poke some fun at the show and at the host. Rachel's impression of the host was great, perfect for the sketch. Maya's character introduction was hilarious, and all of Rachel's comments towards the contestants were hilarious. I loved how Rachel screamed out "and that's just how we play THE WEAKEST LINK!" I also loved the flashback, it was great! Pretty much the perfect 10.
RATING : 10/10
[SKETCH] Jeffery's
I didn't figure this would be a recurring sketch when I first saw it, but it was pretty funny tonight. I don't know why Pierce cracked up though when Horatio said "TARGET!" Sure, it was FUNNY, but I don't understand why you'd break character to laugh. Oh well he recovered well and this sketch was pretty funny in the end. Good job.
RATING : 8/10
[MUSIC] Destiny's Child
I'm a survivor! What? I'm a survivor! What? I'm a survivor! What? I'm a survivor! What? I'm a survivor! What? I'm a survivor! What? I'm a survivor! What? I'm a survivor! What? I'm a survivor! What? I'm a survivor! What? I'm a survivor! What? I'm a survivor! What? I'm a survivor! What? I'm a survivor! What? I'm a survivor! What? GETS PRETTY ANNOYING AFTER A WHILE, DOESN'T IT!?!?!?!?! Shoot me.
[WEEKEND UPDATE] With Jimmy Fallon & Tina Fey
This Weekend Update was far better than average. I especially loved the joke about the Korean who claimed to be Dominican. Most of the jokes were funny and well written. I didn't like the Tracy Morgan dialogue, it was just stupid and boring.
RATING : 9/10
[SKETCH] Violent Boss
This is a perfect example of why I think Will Ferrell is the funniest cast member on the show. I loved his outbursts at his employees, who really weren't doing anything wrong. I guess it was a technical mishap at the slapping part, wrong camera! Oh speaking of the slapping scene, it was great to see Tina Fey in a sketch! I was very surprised. This was just some great comedy, and I wish the show had more of this.
RATING : 8.5/10
[SKETCH] The West Wing Under the Influence of Mushrooms
I've never actually seen The West Wing, but this was still pretty funny. Just some filler I guess.
RATING : 6/10
[SHORT] Dog Shoplifting
I thought Molly was dead? Oh right she just LEFT. Oh well, I don't take these SNL Digital Short things to seriously anyway, they're never really that good. So, for a short, this was pretty good, but compared to the rest of the show...
RATING : 4.5/10
[MUSIC] Destiny's Child
You think I'd watch this?!?!? THINK AGAIN.
[SKETCH] The History Channel : WWII
It took me a second to catch on to what was going on, but once I did, I realized this was extremely funny. "...but they built their submarines with screen doors!" Now, why was this stuck at the end of the show?
RATING : 6.5/10
[SKETCH] Nightclub for Children
Tina Fey in two sketches, playing a stripper, posing sexy for 6 year old kids. I'd imagine SNL's hate-mail bin will be piling up this week! I didn't mind it though, I'm just assuming that people will be pissed off about this. It really was great to see Tina getting in some sketches. One of the best quotes of the entire season came in this sketch, when Pierce went up to the Chinese kid and yelled "GIVE US BACK OUR PLANE!" Very unexpected and hilarious!
RATING : 7/10
Sketch of the night : Weakest Link
Quote of the night : Rachel Dratch as Anne Robinson "Fred Flintstone called. He wants his head back."
OVERALL EPISODE RATING : 74/100
This episode turned out pretty well! For the first time since I can remember, I didn't know who the host was when they announced her. And Bon Jovi as a musical guest....riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. Should be a good time. Only two more episodes left!!
