Sean Hayes / Shaggy

I hadn't heard of Sean Hayes before he was confirmed to host, but after I found out that he was a comedian, I was really excited to see the show. Seeing how it was Molly Shannon's last show, though, I expected it to be ALL of her recurring characters. I was hoping this wouldn't be the case.

[COLD OPENING] George W. Bush Presidential Address

Another Bush opening...but for me they're still not getting old yet. Will's Bush impression still cracks me up, and this cold opening was a great way to start the show. I was hoping that there would be more to come!

RATING : 8.5/10

[MONOLOGUE] Sean Hayes

When he started jumping around and shaking, I thought to myself, "Oh god this better not be one of those Tom Green episodes..." but he calmed down right away. This Monologue was pretty funny I guess, I loved the cell phone call!

RATING : 7.5/10

[SKETCH] NPR Delicious Dish

Molly Shannon recurring sketch number ONE. Well I don't mind actually because this is the only character of hers that I like. This was probably the best NPR sketch next to the famous "Schweddy Balls" one with Alec Baldwin. The special effects were pretty good for live television!

RATING : 7.5

[COMMERCIAL] Homocil

This was the funniest commercial I've ever seen on SNL! That's why I'm giving it the perfect '10'. Hey, it deserves it!!

RATING : 10/10

[SKETCH] MSNBC : Hardball with Chris Matthews

Sweet! A Hammond impression! This sketch was really well written and quite hilarious. I loved how Kattan was always told to shut his mouth, and Parnell's character's ideas for what to do with Bill Clinton were hilarious. Darrell's impression was flawless. This was one of the best sketches of the season.

RATING : 9.5/10

[SKETCH] Jeffrey's

I don't know why, but this sketch was hilarious too. I can see this being a recurring character, and Jimmy can pair up with the host. Anyway, Hayes and Fallon were awesome as the gay guys, and I loved Horatio's line "no, but I got a half eaten TACO in my TERCEL!!" Great sketch.

RATING : 8.5/10

[MUSIC] Shaggy

I love this song so I had to watch. It sounded better live!

[WEEKEND UPDATE] With Tina Fey & Jimmy Fallon

This may have been the best Weekend Update of the season. Short, but sweet. The jokes were great, especially the Iraq and Plastic ones. Hayes as the kid from Billy Elliot was really funny too. Good job!!

RATING : 9.5/10

[SKETCH] Hello Dolly

Uhm, this was okay I guess. I didn't find it all that funny, other than the way SNL portrayed the Home Shopping Network. Not that great...

RATING : 4/10

[SKETCH] Sally O'Malley

Molly Shannon recurring sketch number TWO. I never really liked the O'Malley character, and this was no exception. The camel-toe thing was just disgusting. Hayes was funny as the fashion buff though!

RATING : 4.5/10

[MUSIC] Shaggy

I didn't watch this because I didn't like the song.

[SKETCH] 495 Accident

I thought this was going to be a news parody until I saw Hayes as the crash scene reporter. The clown car thing had me laughing for some reason, and the truck of singing fish made me lose it. I loved how Chris Kattan kept getting interrupted, and it was funny how well he took it. This was a really good sketch for the end of the show!

RATING : 8.5/10

[SKETCH] Mary Katherine Gallagher : LAST SHOW

Praise the lord.

[SKETCH] Brian Fellow's Safari Planet

Well, it looks like Tracy Morgan is going to get a recurring character again! Nothing wrong with that either, because this was pretty funny. They just need to work on the guests a bit more, and you've got yourself a great sketch!

RATING : 7.5/10

[COMMERCIAL] Corn Chip Nail Tips

See my Rob Lowe review...

[SKETCH] Talkin' 'Bout 'Ginas

The only reason this was at the end of the show was because it was dirty. It was funny enough to be much earlier in the show. Chris Kattan's Farrah Fawcett impression had me pissing myself laughing. I was surprised how funny this was!

RATING : 8.5/10

Sketch of the night : Hardball with Chris Matthews

Quote of the night : Darrell Hammond as Chris Matthews "Yeah...Yeah...Blah...Blah...Blah Blah Blah you're done! You're boring, and you look like a fetus!"

    OVERALL EPISODE RATING : 78/100

The rating shows the greatness of this episode. On top of this being the best show of the season, my least favorite cast member is leaving! Life is good, life is good. A great piece of comedy, I don't see how SNL going to be able to top this show!
